Message from Rwanda
PICO Rwanda
Covenant Shepherd Church welcomed Pastor John Rutsindintwarane and Innocent Rugaragu, S.J. to introduce PICO Rwanda to the CSC congregation and guests; including an update on the clinic and the new school in Mumeya.
Pastor John Rutsindintwarane is the General Secretary of the Lutheran Church of Rwanda. He was born in Rwanda and raised in a refugee camp in Tanzania. In 1995, he was one of five Lutheran pastors who left their Tanzanian homes at the orders of government and went with their congregations to Rwanda to begin a new life.

In 2006 after a one year internship with the US PICO affiliate Oakland Community Organizations. He began PICO Rwanda (formerly Congregations Rebuilding Community in Rwanda-CRCR). For Pastor John, the devastating effects of the 1994 genocide and the overwhelming barriers faced by the survivors fueled his search for tools to rebuild his country, combining faith with action, and building from the ground up.

Innocent Rugaragu, S.J. is originally from Rwanda is also an ordained Jesuit Catholic Priest. He is a Ph.D. student at George Mason University's School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution.
